After You

I wish I could just see
What you would do after me
Add a brick to my home
But it wasn't meant to be

Just the way you'd move on
Just the way you'd sing my song
And as you live your life
Let go all those times I was wrong

Popping my bubbles of memory
I break down remembering the faces
But it would be no fun either
To actually exchange places

And I can still do things
But no, I sit here like a fool
Dried behind those fervent eyes
Unable to figure out what to do

Because you were my light
Following you felt quite right
So, I wish I could just feel
That sunken smile with my sight
