Hunger highlights

The feel of hunger
Every second growing stronger
See a well furnished plate
Of juicy, pulpy, thinly sliced flesh
A piece of excellence.
But this sense of being tensed
The appearance of an unseen fence
Which doesn’t let me through
To take a taste of this brew.
Surrounded by a strange crew
Pulls me back despite my elaborate struggle
Can’t find my way out
A cryptic solution to this trouble.
This diamond-coated air bubble
In each of my tries, I tumble.
So he wants to draw some of the aroma, they mumble.

Got stamped a price
Advised to take a disguise
And not to take the easier route at least
But go round the path
That leads to the Grand Budapest
My bag has my dissolved conceit
The journey for that sublime taste
From which I cannot forfeit.
The pride that bounded to forbid
Making deals with the payee
When I just wanted the recipe

Crawling, walking, turning to sprint
The beak leads to the scene
Which the eyes had not seen.
Fulfillment of the appetite to peck
And nibble the vittles so grandly made.
So comfortable, served right to the bed
On and on I avidly sled
Thanked them from whom I was fed

Turned around for the light was low
The gut was filled, the pace was slow
Got the digging, got the blow
But was this just the backstage,
Or the highlight of the show?

Divinity

I am moving along the bitter tides
You can see them as long as the vision lasts,
And they are at least half a day wide
The longer I take my strides
The more I become empty inside
When the breath and the crispness collide
The beanstalks lead to where I reside.
Low visibility alters those who pose beside
They seem to give off the same odour, I can’t divide
Get up and surf along, they slowly guide
I tried to get off this cave, but again I wanted to hide
To dig deep or to fly, I can’t decide
Only when you jump off that nest,
You’ll know how to glide.
Then they showed me the game
And oh! The rules they did remind
They called it climbing up hill to let yourself slide.

You felt the fire which you had never dared alone
Never had you jumbled your words,
And flowed with the tones.
Outside your cave the light had always shone
Only if you had made haste,
To leave your precious throne.
Slacked off the tightness you had always borne
Relaxed those cells, freed the ever-connected bones
Realized this was the true self, that was just a clone
Tried to feel the warmth beforehand,
Rubbing some white stones.
Known the world does not run ,
Just on those green coupons.
Seen what is beyond the sun,
Before you are forever gone.

A

A wondrous yet an incomplete voice,
Wakes me up from sleep most nights
Sound so dulcet that leaves no choice
Clears all lingering doubts in my mind

Well, I thought to talk about how i feel
That its lonely and my wounds wont heal
Nights are longer and I cant even scream
The world is plotting against me, it seems

Why so insecure? calm down my baby
Want to sleep in my arms? maybe?
Colour your day, the devils may care
Is that all you wanted to share?

How will I make any new friends?
Who will support me till the very end?
What if I stand up but cant even speak?
Will everybody then call me a freak?
Try to sleep, tomorrow you will be ready
Feel free and soon things will be steady
Life is short and surely good things will start
Each time I hear her, she melts my heart

Voice disappears and will be back in spring
Plenty of surprises, said she will bring
Missing me? close your eyes, remember me sing

Be Good, Do Good

What does it mean being good?
I was told many a times, but I never understood.
Is it just being polite and not rude
Or to speak what the world wants to hear
And be distilled from the crude.

Is it just playing the right cards?
Keeping mother naive by weeding the backyard
Faking a call to cheat your sweetheart
Acting to be near her when you are so far.
Prettying up your face, when your heart is black as tar
This seems easy, what is so hard?

Is it polishing the medals hung on the door?
Loading up the vaults, when you need no more.
Moving your limbs until they are sore
Showing mother your scores,
When you could do some house-hold chores.
Painting rooms with gold,
When you can sleep on the floor.
I might give these a shot, but what for?

Is it moving fast to cross the road before the cat?
Praising the lord, when you swear
The first guy you look at.
Sleeping on the stupa floor, when all you want
Is to pull the handle and let the coins fill your bag.
Throwing coins on rooftops only to wish,
You had a six bedroom flat.
Offering her flowers and milk to enable yourself
To do tit for his tat.
Yes people praise republicans,
Only when they are not democrats.

What does it mean being good?
I was told many a times, but I never understood.
Is it nodding to everything
Leaving the ground on which you always stood.
Or being a part of this rotten system
In the fear of being forever booed.

Lacustrine woes

The sun was down,
A glorious sunset.
Glasses were empty,
Shoes were wet.
Wind was colder,
Changing of seasons.
The sound of waves
Was really pleasing.

The sun was set,
Beauty was timeless.
No one around,
To listen to the silence.
Then a blue mermaid,
Came hopping by.
Told many sad stories,
About her life.
She said, all her fish friends are in prison.
Live with me for a day, and try to listen.
What is peace,
What is freedom?
Will it be the fishes
Or will it be the demons?

The sun rises,
Memories fade away.
What did the dreams convey?
Walking by the road,
I suddenly realize.
Are we people, really civilized?
Is life behind bars, only prison?
I don't think so, can’t reason .
Until now I thought, I was a freeman
But I guess, inside we all are demons.

Flow

We reached there, waited by his door
Blew out the horns and he’d ignore
We said, what about all we talked before?
Don’t you want to make it more?

He shouted and came running down
Geared up his engine, we were off to downtown
Endless roads, the speed was high
Temples and trees passing by
Think you can stop us? Just come and try

Passing the fall, we reached the river
The bridge was tall , the view was clear
What was next, we couldn't figure
Saw some kids jumping from the blue sky
Think you can stop us? Just come and try

High tide, low tide, it was hard to decide
Water was cold, but still we got inside
We tied our hands, but then legs collide
Then he said I will do it all, we didn't deny
Think you can stop us? Just come and try

We reached there, waited by his door
Blew out the horns and he’d ignore
We said, what about all we talked before?
Don’t you want to make it more?
Then he said I will do it all, wish we knew he lied
Thinking to stop us? Wish we had tried.

Hexed

After supper as I ran upstairs
Outside the main door, a bewitching figure glares
I could do nothing
But stop and admire the charm
Little could I fathom how this incandescence
Would do me any harm.

Flowing in the taste of aniseed
I had taken some more out of greed
Tossing them seeds from one palm to other
I was having fun, I didn't bother
Humming and strumming, I diffused high
Then suddenly I have an epiphany, I don’t lie

“Beware there’s an alien in here.”, alarms my channel
Now I know why I was juggling the extra fennel
Controlling my limbs, a spirit makes me drop
The seeds on the stairs as I go up.
So that it can later creep back to me
To sleep where I sleep
Drink some of my brain juice, and even my tea.

The Beauteous

It’s nine o’clock
And I’m at the stop
Waiting to see you
I know I’ll see you there
But even this minute sundering is not fair
For watching you is all I do
But when you pass by in that white scooter everyday
You look too pretty is all I can say.

It’s the end of the third lesson
And probably you're in some other session
Waiting to shoot some hoops
I can hear the noise outside
Anticipating our meeting, I sighed
I realized I’d watch your game soon.
For when the sweat oils up your face as you play
You look too pretty is all I can say.

The lips seemed more roseate
To inhale this vibrancy the eyes didn’t shut
But they wanted some more
Even her voice that echoed,
And that fleeting smile she showed
Was enough only to aggravate my sore
But when those eyes outshone the sun today
You looked too pretty is all I can say.

Now that you are done playing
And I would never stop saying
If you could spare some time for me
Despite my myriad efforts
And this gives me no comfort
You every time seem to disagree
So let me tell you one more time, if I may
You look too pretty is all I can say.

A beetle’s journey

A beetle flutters away from the balls of dung
Inside him, an escape plan had sprung
To leave this pastoral aroma
And adopt a warrior’s persona.
But leaving his dung rolling family
Was rather an insurmountable task
He kept on pleading to his folks
Said it was the first thing he ever asked

Drying her eyes, the mother packs his bag
Approving the demand
The father advises him what not to lack
His determination, his concentration
And in major proportion, his humility
Or this soul-searching journey
Would end in shame and futility.

Keeping in memory his home town
To which it would be long before he returned
He strides forward in search of a master
To reach the level he had always yearned

Pointing his horn towards the north east
The beetle flies at noon to avoid the morning mist
Down there was his mother
With a kerchief in her hand
Sobbing and waving at the same time
Unknown to where next he would land

Our hero then meets Andy the house fly
Who was buzzing around the dung as always
He says, “Do what a beetle does, you fool
You seem to be in the denial phase.”

Without saying a word, the beetle walks past
Pitying on the naive fly
Who was concealed from the world so vast
The man didn't stick to caves and stones
Just see how he is an how he wast.

On halting to eat, the beetle sees
Ben, the hopper, hopping by
He then comes near the beetle
To ask where was he heading and why

Taking out the food he carried
The beetle depicts his voyage so far
“Go to the world’s end.” says the hopper
“But leave the way back home ajar.”

Welcoming the counsel, the beetle strolls ahead
Analyzing what his two friends had said
On he goes to fulfill his goal
On he goes to reach his dole.

Eagle Eyes

There was an old eagle
Who had such peepers
Which saw a clear distant tomorrow
Of more than decades
In which there was no haze

That to learn to cook, and cook, and cook
And cook,
From a frog’s nail to a falling hail.
And then to keep it in his each brain cell

And so he did.
None amazing plants of the Amazon remained,
And none small termites
which fed on the roots of those plants remained,
Which he could not put together and
Plate it out.

The next peeper doubled the projection
And saw a homely restaurant
Taking a south eastern Himalaya trip
Where he would trade his grip
With the zip
For which his neb had no bounds

The other guy was a runaway father
Who pursued peace and order
For his spirit And his appétit

And to eat, and eat, and eat
And eat,
From a Llama’s tit to a raven’s feet.
